Trinity River Winter Steelhead Fishing Going Strong

     What an amazing winter it has been thus far!  Here in Trinity County we have been enjoying a very welcome wet winter that has helped make this a fantastic steelhead season.  In late January we had a nice long storm system come through that really bumped the river up nicely and the steelhead responded my moving up through the river.  Just after the storm, fishing picked up dramatically as we had multiple guests over the course of a week hook up to many wild steelhead.  Our most recent group went out with guides for two consecutive days and were not disappointed.  Many wild steelhead were landed, and they even got into a few brown trout.  We also spoke with many guides who indicated that the bite for brown trout was above average with multiple guides hooking more than one brown per trip.  The fishing action on the Trinity has been like this all winter.  The great fishing always follows the storms.  With the next round of rain here right now, the fishing looks to be back on fire next week.
